ATTENTION SCHOOL ADMINISTRATORS AND LEADERS
Although your school system may offer a generous pension plan for your teachers and employees, a financial gap typically occurs once they retire. More importantly, many need to understand how your program works. That is why ValuTeachers has created a Retirement 101 Education Workshop Series. The series has been designed with the assistance of former educators to help all employees in the K–12 space achieve one goal: secure their retirement dreams!
ATTRACTING AND RETAINING TEACHERS
By offering the ValuTeachers Retire 101 series in your schools just four times a year, you are showing your educators that you care about their financial well-being. That's because we systemically educate your school employees so they can meet their retirement goals no matter what they may be.
Our series includes details about your state teacher retirement system, 403(b)/457(b), IRAs., and other pre-tax savings options. We also include information and guidance about Deferred Retirement Option Programs and opportunities to receive income for life.
Our presentations in the series are short yet informative. Our presentation will last between three and ten minutes, depending on the workshop. After each of these presentations, your ValuTeachers Associate will remain on location and offer individual sessions to answer any questions and help each school employee with their retirement journey.
The Retire 101 Workshop has been created to educate teachers and other school employees on how to secure their retirement dreams through sound planning. This six to eight-minute workshop includes the following concepts:
• How your state teacher retirement system works
• How to take advantage of pre-tax saving options
• What 403(b) and/or 457(b) supplemental programs are
• How to fulfill your retirement goals
Retire 101 Revisited
The Retire 101 Revisited Workshop is a short three to four-minute workshop that focuses on the difference between the school employee's monthly income before and after retirement. The concepts covered include:
• The income employees will receive from their state retirement program
• The potential need for additional retirement savings
• The advantages of compound interest
IRA Savings 101
Our IRA Savings 101 Workshop was developed to educate school employees on other opportunities to save for their retirement. This eight to ten-minute workshop includes the following:
• Key differences between Traditional and ROTH IRAs
• What a tax-deferred IRA is
• Limitations in IRA contributions
• Possible penalties and mandatory distributions
• Some saving options to consider
SPECIAL State Programs
Our ValuTeachers Associates are experts in your state's retirement pension program, including any special programs your state offers. This is an excellent workshop if your state offers programs like...
Deferred Retirement Option Plan (DROP)
Partial Lump Sum Option Plan (PLOP)
Initial Lump-Sum Benefit (ILSB)
Partial Lump Sum Option (PLSO)
Our presentations have been created for ALL school employees, including administration, teachers, bus drivers, maintenance, and cafeteria workers. Although it is not required, we recommend that your school offer all four workshops throughout the school year to all of your employees.
